PHP function filemtime
This function returns the last modified time of a file.
Syntax filemtime
file name to check
filemtime(file);
Note
As the result of this function are cached, use clearstatcache() function to clear the cache.

$filename = 'myfile1.txt';
echo filemtime($filename);
echo "\n";
echo "Last modified: ".date("F d Y H:i:s.",filemtime($filename));
echo "\n";
?>
Output
1339208455 Last modified: June 08 2012 22:20:55.
